Halloween Costume Props, Accessories and Decorations

Our Halloween range covers both halves of the night: costume pieces and decorations. For costumes, pick a handheld scythe for a grim reaper, an orb staff for a wizard, witch or vampire, a cobra cane for a pharaoh, or one finishing accessory such as a green witch nose, glitter horn clips or a purple star witch hat. For decorating, the stretch spider web covers about 10 sq ft, and the 22 in eyeball foil balloon adds a single focal point. Use the costume table below to match a character to its props.

Practical tips for trick-or-treat night

All our staffs and scythes are hollow or lightweight plastic and weigh a few ounces, so they are easy to carry on a long route. Each comes apart into three or four sections for the car. They are for posing, not swinging, and the glow scythe has small parts that make it unsuitable for children under 3.

Try noses and masks on a few days ahead. The witch nose is latex, the clown nose is hard molded plastic, and strap pressure varies with head size, so remove anything that feels tight. Browse every prop in scythes, staffs and canes.

Decorating with spider web and an eyeball balloon

The spider web looks most convincing pulled thin, in strands, rather than left in clumps. Hook the edges on corners, railings or small pieces of tape, and place the two plastic spiders where they'll catch the eye. Use it indoors or under a dry, covered porch, away from candles, heat and rain. The spider web stretching guide covers density and coverage.

The 22 in bloodshot eyeball balloon fills with air for a placed or hung display, or with helium to float. Inflate it slowly to about 80–90% full. Outdoors, secure it firmly and bring it inside in wind or rain.

Halloween checklist

  • Choose the character, then the one prop or accessory that makes it recognizable.
  • Assemble props and do a full costume fitting a few days before.
  • Check school or event rules before bringing a prop.
  • Stretch the spider web and set up the eyeball balloon the day before your party.
  • Keep small parts, spiders and uninflated balloons away from young children.

Frequently asked questions

Are your scythes and staffs safe to carry trick-or-treating?

They are lightweight plastic costume props that weigh a few ounces. Use them for posing and carrying, not swinging, and supervise young children. The glow scythe isn't for children under 3 because of small parts.

Which Halloween props are sized for kids?

The 28.5 in glow scythe and the 29.3 in green orb staff are the most compact. All our props are handheld lengths between about 28.5 and 33.2 in.

Can I use the spider web outside?

Only in a dry, covered spot such as a sheltered porch. Keep it away from rain, strong wind, flames and heat.

Does the witch nose need glue?

No. It stays on with a black elastic strap behind the head. It is made of latex, so skip it for anyone with a latex sensitivity.

Does the eyeball balloon float?

Only with helium, which isn't included. Filled with air, it works as a placed or securely hung display.
