Party Banners, Garlands and Decorations

For a banner you can reuse, choose the felt pennant: 12 blue felt flags on an 8.2 ft (2.5 m) string. For a long, bright garland, the paper flag banner has 24 printed flags and 32.8 ft (10 m) of ribbon. Both need threading before you hang them. The Happy Birthday ribbon is a 30 ft roll for gifts, favor bags and balloon tails, and the stretch spider web covers about 10 sq ft for a Halloween corner or doorway.

Felt or paper pennant banner?

The felt banner is the one to keep. Its polyester felt triangles fold flat after the party and move easily into a nursery, playroom or classroom wall. The colors stay within one family, navy to light blue, which suits blue birthday themes and baby showers.

The paper banner is the one for a big, cheerful run of color. Smiley faces, polka dots, stripes and chevrons suit bright kids' parties and preschool rooms rather than minimalist or single-color styling. It is lightweight printed paper, best for indoor, short-term use.

How long will each banner be?

Placed edge to edge, the 12 felt flags take up roughly 5 to 6 ft, which leaves string at each end for tying on an 8.2 ft line. You can also spread the flags wider, since they slide along the string. The 24 paper flags span roughly 11 to 13 ft edge to edge. Hang them as one long garland or split them across the two ribbons for two shorter strands, such as one over a dessert table and one on a wall.

Happy Birthday ribbon for gifts and balloons

A 30 ft roll of 15 mm ribbon goes further than it sounds. By the math in our gift ribbon guide, it cross-wraps about four shoebox-size gifts with a simple bow. Use what's left for favor bags, bouquet sleeves or the tails on party balloons. It is decorative ribbon, so don't lay it directly on uncovered food.

Halloween spider web

The stated 10 sq ft of coverage depends on how thin you pull the web. Start with a small tuft and stretch it slowly from the center for wispy strands; leave it thicker for dense patches in corners. Tuck the two spiders into the strands where they'll be seen. Step-by-step tips are in how to stretch spider web decoration.

Use it indoors or in a dry, covered porch spot, away from rain, strong wind, candles and other heat. Keep the small plastic spiders out of young children's reach. For a single big focal point next to the web, add the 22 in eyeball foil balloon.

Frequently asked questions

Do the pennant banners come already strung?

No. Both arrive flat. The felt banner includes a plastic needle for threading the flags onto its 8.2 ft string, and the paper flags have pre-punched holes for the two included ribbons.

How long is the paper flag banner?

It comes with two 16.4 ft ribbons, 32.8 ft in total. The 24 flags, about 5.7 x 6.4 in each, span roughly 11 to 13 ft placed edge to edge, so you can space them out or make two strands.

Can I reuse the felt banner?

Yes. The felt triangles fold flat for storage after indoor use, and many people move the banner into a nursery or playroom after the party.

How many gifts will the 30 ft Happy Birthday ribbon wrap?

Cross-wrapping a shoebox-size gift with a bow takes about 82 in of ribbon, so one roll covers about four of those, or more smaller gifts and favor bags.

Can I use the spider web outside?

Only in a dry, covered spot such as a sheltered porch. Keep it away from rain, strong wind, flames and heat.
