This birthday cake balloon is a single foil balloon shaped like a cake with candles. Inflated, it's about 22.4 in tall and 14.5 in wide (57 x 37 cm), enough to be the one bright accent on a dessert table without building a full garland. It works for a kid's party, an adult milestone, an office birthday, a baby shower or an anniversary, and it makes an oversized prop for cake smash photos.

What's in the package, and what isn't

You get one uninflated cake balloon and one roll of white ribbon, 33 ft (10 m) long. There's no pump, no helium, no weight and no stand. If you were expecting a bundle of birthday balloons or a balloon that stands on the floor by itself, this isn't it: it hangs or floats.

Air or helium for a foil cake balloon

How to inflate it

1. Lay the balloon flat and find the valve at the base.
2. Insert a pump nozzle, a drinking straw or a helium tank nozzle into the valve.
3. Fill slowly. Stop once the shape is smooth, before the balloon feels tight.
4. Remove the nozzle. The valve seals itself.
5. Tie the ribbon around the neck below the valve, then hang or anchor the balloon.

Safety notes

Keep uninflated or broken balloons away from children under 8, and have an adult supervise and handle inflation. Keep the balloon away from heat and sharp edges. Foil is metallic and conducts electricity: if it's filled with helium, keep it tied to a weight and never release it outdoors, where it can drift into power lines.

Styling it with the rest of the party

The cake shape pairs naturally with rainbow cone party hats on the table and a small cluster of latex balloons behind it. For a gift, tie a short length of the ribbon to the present so an air-filled balloon rests against the box, or a helium-filled one hovers above it. On a wall, hang it at about the height of the cake so both land in the same photo.
