What's in the 30-piece key identifier caps set

These key identifier caps give you 30 silicone markers in three styles: 10 small open rings, 10 large open rings and 10 semicircle caps. Colors are randomly assorted, and the exact mix varies from pack to pack. It's a plain, no-print set made for sorting a lot of everyday flat keys, such as house, office and rental property keys.

Will these key covers fit my keys?

The stretchable silicone is made for common flat key heads with a round or diamond outline. Fit depends on the width and shape of the head, so measure across the widest part of your key head and compare it with the table before you fit a cover. Car keys, ignition keys, bulky heads and unusual shapes aren't part of what this set is made for, so don't count on them fitting.

After fitting, put each key into its lock once to check that the cover doesn't stop it from going in all the way.

How to set up a key color code

With randomly assorted colors, some colors will likely repeat, so give each key two cues instead of one:

  1. Sort the pieces by color when you open the pack.
  2. Give each place a color, such as a building, floor, unit or family member.
  3. Use shape for the type of door, for example semicircle caps on front doors, large rings on back doors and small rings on storage rooms.
  4. Write the code down once and keep the list somewhere safe.

The semicircle cap feels different from the two rings, so you can find that key by touch when the porch light is out or your hands are full.

Who this set is for

It suits households with many look-alike keys, small offices, and property or facility teams that need to sort keys quickly. If you also want to write room or unit names on tags, the key identifier set with write-on tags and a label sheet adds that layer. For a smaller family set with printed icons and flower shapes, see the 16-pack of cute printed and flower key covers.

What's not included

This set has no printed labels, no key rings and no storage case, and keys are not included. If a large ring feels loose on a narrow key, switch to a small ring, which is sized for narrower heads. More small organizing items are in home and everyday finds.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes are the key identifier caps?

There are three: small open rings at 24 x 4.8 mm, large open rings at 30 x 5.0 mm and semicircle caps at 25 x 20 x 3.0 mm, with 10 of each.

Will they fit small keys?

Use the small open rings for narrower key heads. Some very small keys may be narrower than the ring, so measure the head before you rely on the set for them.

Do they fit car keys or odd-shaped keys?

Fit isn't claimed for car, ignition, bulky or unusual key heads. The set is made for common flat keys with round or diamond-shaped heads.

Can I choose the colors?

No. Colors are random assorted and the mix can vary between packs. Use the three shapes as a second code when colors repeat.

Are labels or a case included?

No. This set is color and shape only. If you need written labels, our 30-piece key tag set includes write-on tags and a printed label sheet.

Are these rubber key covers?

They're stretchable silicone with a matte finish, which is what many people mean when they search for rubber key covers.

How do I put them on?

Stretch the ring or cap over the key head until it sits evenly, then test the key in its lock to make sure it still goes in all the way.
