Cloud push pins that add color without covering the note

These cloud push pins are decorative thumbtacks with a rounded resin head shaped like a small cloud and a 9 mm (0.35 in) steel point. The set has 14 pins, two each in white, green, yellow, purple, blue, pink and orange, plus a clear case to keep them in. Each head is about 0.98 x 0.59 x 0.5 in (25 x 15 x 13 mm): big enough to grab easily, small enough to leave a photo or index card readable.

Color-coding with seven colors

Two pins in each of seven colors make an easy system. Give each family member a color on a kitchen calendar, each subject a color on a classroom board, or each goal a color on a vision board. Two per color covers the top corners of a card or photo.

Which boards do they work on?

One thing to check: the steel point is 9 mm long. On a thin cork sheet or tile less than about 3/8 in (10 mm) thick, the tip can reach the wall behind it, so mount thin cork on a backing or use a framed board.

What they'll hold

These are for lightweight paper: photos, postcards, greeting cards, index cards, schedules and memos. They aren't made for heavy objects or thick stacks. If a pin is straining or tilting, it's carrying too much.

Safety and storage

The steel points are sharp. Handle the pins by the cloud head, put them back in the case when you're done, and keep the pins and the case out of reach of small children.

The clear case measures 2.95 x 1.97 x 0.79 in (75 x 50 x 20 mm), small enough for a desk drawer or pencil pouch.

Who should choose something else
