Event and school prop rules
There is no universal prop rule. Each convention, school and venue writes its own, often covering realistic weapon replicas, length limits, materials, inspection and conduct. Choosing a staff for the character
On most adults, a 29 to 33 in staff stands about hip to wrist height and reads as a scepter or cane; on a small child it can reach the shoulder and read as a full staff. That makes these props a good fit for school productions with young casts. Face pieces for school plays

Rehearsal and event checklist
- Read the event or school prop policy and check your prop's assembled length against it.
- Assemble the prop by hand and connect every section fully before rehearsal.
- Walk your blocking with the prop so you know which hand holds it and where it rests.
- Do a full fitting with noses, masks and horn clips; remove anything that feels tight.
- Pack props apart in a costume bag, and carry staffs upright in crowds.
- Assign an adult to look after props and small parts for young casts.

Can I bring these props to a convention?

How do the props travel?

Will the long nose stay on during a play?
It stays on with an elastic strap behind the head and needs no glue. Do a trial fitting before the show, because strap pressure varies with head size.
Can actors lean on the cane or staffs?
No. They are decorative plastic props with no load capacity. Use them for posing and gestures, not for support.
