Boieo Witch Hat for Cats and Dogs, Black Felt, 7–18 in Heads

How big is this witch hat for cats and dogs?

The hat measures 5.3 in (13.5 cm) in diameter and 5.1 in (13 cm) tall, and it adjusts to head circumferences from 7 to 18 in (18 to 45 cm). That makes it a small witch hat: in proportion on cats and small dogs, and a tiny perched accent on bigger heads. It's one black felt hat in the classic pointed witch shape, held with elastic.

How to measure your pet's head

Wrap a soft tape measure around the widest part of the head, in front of the ears and under the jaw. If the number falls between 7 and 18 in, your pet is inside the listed range. Our guide to measuring a dog or cat for a hat also covers the ear gap, which decides whether the brim sits level between upright ears.

Will it fit a large dog?

Only if the head measures 18 in or less around. Large breeds can measure more than that, so check before you order. Even when it fits, a 5.3 in hat will look like a mini witch hat on a big head. Treat it as a small accent rather than a full-size hat.

Putting it on a cat or dog

1. Adjust the fit close to your pet's measurement before you start.
2. Set the hat on top of the head with the brim level and the point upright.
3. Settle the elastic so it holds the hat without pressing; two fingers should slide underneath.
4. Reward calm behavior, take your photos, then remove the hat.

Comfort and supervision

Stay with your pet the whole time the hat is on, and take it off if they paw at it, shake their head or seem unsettled. Keep sessions short, especially with cats. The felt is lightweight, but any hat is a photo accessory, not something to leave on an unattended pet.

A mini witch hat for plush toys

The same hat fits stuffed animals and plush toys within the size range, which makes it handy for Halloween shelf displays and toy photos. Our guide to mini hats for stuffed animals and toy photos covers sizing and keeping a hat on a toy with no chin.

Matching witch costumes

For a pet-and-owner photo, pair it with our purple witch hat with gold stars and a green witch nose with a wart. If you'd like a pet hat with a pumpkin on the front instead of plain black, our Inxens dog witch hat has an orange jack-o'-lantern accent and a toggle chin cord.

Care and storage

Lift off pet hair with a lint roller and spot clean gently with a damp cloth if needed. Store the hat point-up in a box so it keeps its shape for next Halloween.
